Announcing: First Ever WRESTLEFUDGE ROAD*TRIP to SAW in St.Albans, VT - March 31

You read that right!

Wrestlefudge is branching out! While we have, until now, covered In Your Face Wrestling almost exclusively, we know it's important both to the growth of our site as well as the growth of independent wrestling in the area to expand our scope and our coverage outside of our comfort zone. We are happy to announce that the Wrestlefudge Contingent, along with the Wrestlefudge BLOGCAST, will be migrating north across state lines and nearly to the Canadian border to cover Slam All-Star Wrestling's "Sinister Intentions" event in St.Albans on March 31st!

Luckily for Will and I, IYFW and SAW share a lot of the same talent. Should be somewhat easy to follow. Will be interesting to see them perform outside of The BACC and in a different ring, in front of different fans! As mentioned, we will be packing up much of Studio 68 to bring with us... Plans are being made to record a post-event, "After Hours" BLOGCAST after the show, as well as some video content throughout intended both for this page and our Facebook page, chronicling wrestlefudge on the road.

Should be fun! Further details will follow, including info on possible IN-STUDIO GUESTS, more details on wrestlefudgeTV, and - obviously - further coverage of Slam All-Star Wrestling!

(we won't forget about you either, IYFW!)

BLOGCAST Updates!

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who tunes in to our BLOGCAST every week. It may not be a thousand or even a hundred people, but hey, that just makes me value each listener that much more (that's YOU!).

If you missed our last show then you missed Roman Dominguez setting the record straight in regards to Drake Evans, you missed my blogcast-colleague Will Cena nearly turn Ian Daniels into the Department of Homeland Security for ties to terrorism, and you missed the kickoff of the "BOOK the ROCKETT" campaign!

(speaking of which, if you're reading this, please head on over to IYFW's Facebook page and like our post on their wall in regards to pushing Ricky Rockett! Shocked that no one else has hopped on board this crazy train! The kid deserves it!)

Back to the BLOGCAST... Due to some scheduling issues and logistical nonsense, it appears that - sadly - there won't be a new episode of the wrestlefudge BLOGCAST this week. We are, however, planning on a HUGE show set for release on 3/16, the day before the St.Patrick's Day Massacre event! Hoping to have a few call-in guests for that show... Some big names... So please stay tuned to here, as well as our officialized Facebook page!

Thanks again!

Follow-Up: PWHF Finally Grows a Set

Less than 24 after this blog exposed the abuse and disrespect the PWHF FB page paid towards it's supporters and visitors re: the truth of their advertised May 18th event... They finally pulled the curtain of questions back and posted the following announcement:

"fans..in regards to the tie - in wrestling show for the PWHF Induction weekend ...Top Rope Productions was working with Amsterdam High School since November in regards to having them supply to us the gym as the venue for the show...if you remember last year, they thought that was a great spot and wanted to use that venue again this year..Top Rope was contacted by the school the other day and was told they changed their mind, Top Rope production has secured some great talent and wanted to produce as close to the same show as last year...I saw their line up and believe me you won't be disappointed...but, until they secure a new venue they will not be able to offer tickets for sale...Top Rope is searching the area to do just that...we will let you know where, when we find that info out...there is still plenty of time, so fingers crossed they find a new venue soon..."

I have a LOT to say about this. This story is far from played out. Stay tuned!

The Unprofessional Wrestling Hall of Fame Strikes Again!

I received a tip late last night from a faithful reader of the 'fudge that the PWHF's FB page was deleting any post that mentioned the May 18th show they promoted would take place at the Amsterdam High School - in opposition of IYFW's own event - likely due to the fact that the High School doesn't want them to HAVE a show that night.

But instead of coming out, PROFESSIONALLY, and admitting that their venue fell through... They are deleting their own supporters posts and pretending they never MADE that announcement.

Deleted.

That was an honest, unthreatening, completely NON-DICK question. I was simply doing my due diligence as a hard-nosed, honest to goodness, not-at-all JOURNALIST! I wanted their official stance and position on this developing story.

I'd say I GOT it.

This post was also deleted. I'm leaving in parts of other posts just to illustrate the timeframe and context.

Please note the OTHER PWHF supporter who asked a similar question that *I* asked -- and note that, in the next photo, they deleted THAT post also.

Don't think THAT person didn't notice. That's how they treat their supporters? That's fucking disgusting.

MAN UP! Own up to the fact that you jumped the gun and announced a show that wasn't going to go down. They were quick to post the story of the "promoter" who duped his customers... As if they are much BETTER?

Yup. Also now gone.

I am urging anyone that reads this blog, who supports Independent Wrestling, who supports the VOICE of the CONSUMER, to "like" their page long enough to take them to task.

They claim to be professional?

I beg to differ.

The way they have handled this ENTIRE situation says a whole hell of a lot about how they VIEW their supporters and about how they VIEW independent wrestling. I know there are some of my readers - and even IYFW performers - that count themselves as a PWHF supporter. At this point, I'm not sure how you can be.

Wouldn't the RIGHT thing ... Be to simply make a statement of the facts? What are they afraid of? That the fans coming to Amsterdam that weekend will accidentally support a local and growing independent wrestling group? Is that the WORST thing that can happen? Don't they WANT the people coming to town that weekend to be a part of their induction weekend to know the truth?

Wouldn't the RIGHT thing be to be professional? To respect your customers? To respect the business you so, so badly want to appear relevant to?

Wouldn't the RIGHT thing be to just come clean and quit being general douches to the people who might otherwise SUPPORT you?

Would they even KNOW what the RIGHT thing is at this point?

Thanks for reading. Thanks for supporting Indy wrestling.

I love you guys.

GLW ISSUES CHALLENGE: Ladder Match in Ballston Spa on 3/17?

On EPISODE FOUR of the Wrestlefudge BLOGCAST, Ian Daniels asked us to let him know if Good Lord Willing had anything to say about him. Willing was clearly listening and wasted no time, leveling a HUGE challenge at Daniels!

A ladder match? Very cool. What hangs over the ring? A grenade?

Ian Daniels... You have been officially notified!

Breaking News: PWHF-Sponsored Show In LIMBO?

And the plot thickens...

Turns out that the In Your Face Wrestling event in Amsterdam, NY on May 18th - "Memories, Moments, and Mayhem" - may actually run unopposed! Yes, yes, yes ... You know the story so far. If not, read a few previous articles. My sources have spoken to the Principal of Amsterdam High School (where the PWHF-sponsored event was promoted as taking place) and he says they will NOT be holding a show at that venue on that night.

This, I imagine, has to be a nightmare for PWHF officials who have been very quiet about any details on their show since hastily announcing it on Facebook.

As of this story's publication, there is yet to be any ticket information - or even general show announcement - on the Hall's official webpage.

More info as I hear it!

Davey O'Who? ...and news on the upcoming BLOGCAST!

Alright.

Much has been said here and elsewhere about HallOfFameGate and I like to think that I have made MY particular position fairly clear: as a fan of IYFW and as a fan of the wrestling business AS A BUSINESS, I fully support In Your Face Wrestling's right to hold an event the same night as the PWHF-sponsored show ... Especially since the IYFW event was booked first ... But that's an entirely different story that will likely see the light of day sooner rather than later.

In the midst of all the controversy, I'm not the only one who has said spoken out. Check this link out from the fine folks over at prowrestlingdigest.com. Read the write up on the Hall if it suits you then scroll down to the comments. This gem in particular:

"The PWHF is NOT working with In Your Face Wrestling promotion for this years’ induction. The show is not sanctioned, supported or recomended by our organization. The Hall is working with a local promoter and will support the show that is presented at Amsterdam HS on the Friday night before the induction.

A group of “backyard wrestlers” may enjoy their hobby, but do not have anything to do with the business of professional wrestling or the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame."

Read the other comments, also. Those actually MAKE SENSE.

Anyhow, back to the above drivel. This was posted by a man named Davey O'Hannon. I googled the name (because I had never heard of him before) and discovered that he was an active professional wrestler between 1971 and 1990, competing for organizations including NWA and WWF... However, even still, there really wasn't a ton of info on this guy out there. This is a guy who clearly is heavily tied to the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame, who is all over message boards telling old road stories and - apparently - attempting to bury independent wrestling under the PWHF banner.

Part of me wonders what the Hall of Fame thinks of his stance.

If you wonder how *I* feel about Davey and his views ... Tune in to the Wrestlefudge BLOGCAST this weekend. I'm feeling a live song parody in Davey's honor coming on...

-- More on the Hall of Fame Controversy!
-- Ian Daniels CALLS IN (...right, Joe Stats?)
-- Special Segment: WILL CENA's SOAPBOX!

Huge Talent Announcement Coming!

You're going to want to keep your eyes on IYFWrestling.com in the next few days because they have a pretty big announcement they have been sitting on that they are preparing to unveil shortly!

A source in the know informs us that IYFW officials will be making the first of a series of talent announcements re: their Amsterdam show on May 18th and the first one is pretty impressive. It is believed that the particular talent to be announced this weekend is a former WWE superstar and former title holder at that!

With all of the recent controversy surrounding this event, as well as the event reportedly being offered/supported by the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame on the very same evening, there are a lot of eyes on BOTH shows. So far, no talent has been announced for the PWHF-sanctioned event other than the implication that "TNA talent" will be involved.

So, yeah... Be sure you're signed up on the IYFW Mailing List and dig all up on their Facebook page so you hear when they drop the news!

Controversial Update

Since first writing about the quiet controversy surrounding In Your Face Wrestling's May 18th Amsterdam, NY event going head to head with the PWHF's own show on their own Induction Weekend, well... It has been interesting.

I have been contacted by interested (and affected) parties on BOTH sides of the situation. Each has their own take on things, their own opinions, and each admit that they don't have the whole story.

One thing is certain: Neither Do I.
But I certainly have the gist of it.

It appears that IYFW is moving forward with their event with a "No Endorsements Needed" attitude while the PWHF is encouraging fans to bury independent wrestling by "liking" their misinformed and ill-conceived insults on their Facebook page.

So much for not getting ugly, eh?
