787 Pro Predictions for 2/17/2013

787 Pro Wrestling returns to the Troy Boys and Girls Club in Troy, NY this Sunday, 2/17, for their second ever effort! Coming off of what was a well-received debut back in January, it appears as though this promotion is looking to accelerate on their momentum with another interesting card!

This unconventional Sunday afternoon show (bell time is 2:30pm) dubbed "ACCELERATION" boasts just four announced matches that we can chew on... So lets dive in:

5-Man Gauntlet Match:
"The Reality Show Superstar" Chris Envy vs. "The Wolf" CJ Scott vs. Coconut Jones vs. "Redneck" Randy Walker vs. "The Spectacle" Adam Badger
There has been some confusion on whether we can expect a traditional "gauntlet" or a "scramble" match... What is NOT confusing is just how fun this match looks on paper. All five of these competitors were in action at the January show and each of them offered something a little different; CJ participated in the clear MotN as well as sported some of the most unsightly facial hair that Troy has ever seen, Coconut was energetic and got the youngsters in attendance behind him, Envy brought equal parts confidence and arrogance, Randy Walker brought a wheel barrow and some hilarity, and Adam Badger brought maybe his most uninspiring performance in recent memory... I think we can expect more of the same (from guys like CJ and Envy) and hopefully a little more fire out of a young man I expect a LOT from in 2013 in Adam Badger. Hopefully this match is given a LOT of time for all five to "get their shit in".
PAUL's PICK: CJ Scott.

Cloudy vs "Too Rad" Kyle Brad
Kyle Brad is money. In nearly any given situation. Cloudy was just "ok" in my eyes, last go round... I am hopeful that these two mesh well and that this could be early MotN contender.
PAUL's PICK: Kyle Brad

Oman Tortuga vs Foxx Vinyer
Former ROH star, Tortuga, is on Foxx duty this month! I'll be honest; I am not familiar with Oman's work at ALL... But those three letters next on his résumé, "ROH", certainly lend him some credibility! Vinyer is, once again, in the make or break position. Last month, he had showed in a pretty competitive loss against new friend of the 'fudge, Bobby Fish. Despite his protests to the contrary, Vinyer seemed blown up, soaked with sweat just a few minutes into his match with Fish, drawing a "cardio" chant from the people behind us. Personally, I think Foxx Vinyer is an interesting wrestler with a lot of potential... if he is willing and able to look beyond how he views HIMSELF and embrace the way he is actually and factually perceived. I repeat: a LOT of potential... If...
PAUL's PICK: Foxx Vinyer?

MAIN EVENT
787PW Championship Match
Vik Dalishus (c) vs "The Party Peacock" Dalton Castle
I think it's safe to say that we should expect to see Rob Coleman and/or JP Black assert themselves in this match in some fashion - which is fine. What ISN'T fine is if that assertion interferes at all with Dalton Castle doing his thing! Castle definitely held the crowd in the palm of his hand last month and I think it's safe to say his antics will enthrall and amuse this Sunday as well. As for Dalishus, he is clearly being built up as a dangerous, crafty champion... I can't imagine we will see another top Champion crowned on their second show. This should be fun, however!
PAUL's PICK: Vik Dalishus.

Who else can we expect?
"The Real" Rob Coleman, "The Dark Pony" JP Black, Kyle Badger, "Buttery" Bert Williams, Joint Task Force and many more.

For some reason, I thought I had seen early on in this events promotion that the debut of Monarchy was advertised! Now I'm learning that isn't the case. Am I nuts? Possibly. What is CERTAIN is that William King and ZPB will NOT be there and I am BUMMED about it! In any case, this should be another fun show. Definitely check these guys out. This is not some flash in the pan local wrestling operation, these guys have shown an early commitment to making this promotion work.

It's an exciting time to be an indy wrestling fan in Upstate NY!
